R.V. - Robin VanArsdol

Known for his affiliation with the New York City Street Art Movement, R.V. is credited with doing over 5,000 murals on the streets of New York City during the 1980’s. Most people know him as a painter, but he was educated as a sculptor, and was once the sculpture instructor at New York University. Currently he is the owner/director of the Warehouse Gallery in Orlando, Florida. He has exhibited in New York City since the early 70’s and first exhibited in Milan with D’Ars Studios in 1984. R.V. spends 3 months every year working and exhibiting in Milan, Italy.

R.V.’s work uses naive silhouette images that are metaphors for contemporary life. Satirical in nature, his images come from drawings he did as a child, (airplanes, cars, boats). The works in this exhibit are about his obsession with the fear of nuclear disaster and biblical prophecy. The usage of the Crucifix in his work has been directly influenced by his time spent in Italy.

L’immagine di un crocifisso, in un suo lavoro e’ l’influsso derivato dalle sue frequenti permanenze in Italia.
