"I started tagging "Bad
Jets" and "Corvettes" in New York City during a
visit in 1981. I had moved from there to Orlando, Florida in
1978 and made two 3-day visits each year until my return in
1983. Upon my return, I loaded up a truck with paint and began
painting as many murals and art pieces as I could on the streets
of New York. I rented a small loft in Soho and began painting
with a passion. Living on Mercer St., the corner parking lot at
Mercer and Grand was an easy wall for me to work on, and to
eventually control.
I first started with a yellow "Sailboat X" and
then a green "Tank Behind Every Tree". Later I painted
a large "Life and Times of RV", and the heart of the
Graffiti wars, as they become to be known, was on. Three
times this mural was painted on, and all three times I responded
in kind.
I later began painting new murals, allowing what others
had painted to remain, and became part of the new painting. I
ended up painting over 30 murals, some as large os 30 ft. long,
over the next four years. Now, in 1998, the wall is covered by
graffiti artist, and only the tips at the top verify that I was
ever there."
