Norman’s Mural - "The Race of the Corvette"
I’ve known Norm Powers for years. When I went to New York City and did all my murals, Norm was the paint supplier giving me all the paint. He always had paint he was trying to get rid of. In 1987, I painted a mural on Norm’s new business wall on South Street and Primrose, in Orlando, Florida. The city sign ordinance came in and said we were in violation. I painted out the mural one month after it had been completed. I refused to let Norm get a fine. In 1993 I remember reading an article in the Orlando Sentinel, about the city changing it’s ordinance, allowing murals on buildings. I told Norm, went down to the city and got a copy of the ordinance, and repainted Norman Powers wall with "The Race of the Corvette". Today, that mural can be seen, from the East West Expressway going west.
