The Keith Haring Collection
In 1981 I remember seeing the Keith Haring chalk drawings on the subway advertisements in New York City. I also remember Paolo Buggiani having a substantial collection of Keith Haring chalk drawings in his studio in 1982, before either Paolo or myself knew who Keith Haring was. Paolo just believed that they were important. Now, in 1999, they are not just important, but also valuable. At one time, you could get a Keith Haring chalk drawing for $500. A couple years ago the same piece would be worth $2-3,000. Today, the same drawings are valued at $23,000 to $27.000. The larger Keith Haring’s are said to have brought $45,000 and $47,000, at Martin Lawrence Galleries, this past winter. These photographs are of original Keith Haring chalk drawings from the collection of Paolo Buggiani, and are available for purchase. There are approximately 35 drawings available. 20 to 25 beautiful Keith Haring drawings are at Paolo’s studio in Rome, 8-10 are in his New York studio, and I have three available for preview in the Warehouse Gallery.
