New York Graffiti

"I had moved to Florida from New York in the summer of 1978 & worked with my family's business. I returned to NYC in 1981 for visits, and was very impressed with the graffiti on the streets. I created 'Bad Jet' (spray paint) and 'Gunboats for War' (stencil) and began putting art on the walls of Soho. In 1983, I decided to return to New York, from April to October, and flood the city walls with images. Before leaving New York in 1978, I had lived in Soho for 6 years and witnessed the beginning of the Gallery scene. I worked putting up art and art documentation, for several Fuluxus artists: Bill Tar, Sam Weiner, Bill Coply, Benard Phriem, Joseph Beuys, Nam June Pike, Ray Johnson and the Rene Block Gallery. I knew and witnessed Charlie Simmons doing his installed Adobes during the middle '70's."
